Twinning Association

Burton Latimer Twinning Association was formed in 1985. Formal twinning links with the German village of Altendiez were completed in 1987, and with the Italian town of Castelnuovo Magra in 2002.

Our aims

Two twinning charters exist in each location, expressing the agreed desire to:

  • Establish and maintain friendly relations with each other;
  • Foster and develop mutual understanding and respect;
  • Encourage and assist youth and adult organisations, clubs, companies, groups and individuals to communicate and exchange visits with each other – thereby developing human and cultural relations, and establishing firm foundations for future understanding, respect and friendship between the people of Altendiez, Castelnuovo Magra and Burton Latimer for all time.

Our activities

The Association organises trips to the two twin towns from time to time, and arranges hospitality for our German and Italian friends who visit Burton Latimer. The Association needs help with:

  • Encouraging more people to join the group;
  • Accommodating our twinning partners when they visit us.
