Ruth Groome

I represent Burton Latimer on Kettering Borough Council, and have previously been Mayor of Kettering.

In Burton Latimer I serve on the town council’s Events Steering Group, Sports & Leisure Group, Farmer’s Market Steering Group and Civic Centre Manangement Board. I also represent the council on the Burton Latimer United Education Foundation, Burton Latimer Ancient Parish Charity, and Burton Latimer Heritage Society.

I am a Past President of the the Ise Valley Rotary Club, a member of the Ise Valley Protection Group and a member of Burton Latimer Ex-Servicemen’s Associaton.

My professional background is as a Business Librarian and I worked for a large insurance company in Peterborough, but took voluntary redundancy to care for my three children and concentrate on my community work.

I am particulary looking forward to the regeneration of Burton Latimer’s Town Centre, and feel passionately that with the expansion plans, infrastructure should be in place before houses, and buildings will be of good design with plenty of green open spaces.
