Burton Latimer Heritage Society’s latest exhibition is called ‘Ordinary Lives – Extraordinary Women‘. The display highlights the part played by women from all walks of life in the development of the town – including charities, clubs and groups, local government, leisure, education and health services.

The exhibition will be open from 10am to 1pm every Thursday and Saturday, until Saturday, 22nd June. As usual, entrance is free.

Monthly Farmers Market

9am – 1pm, Millennium Garden, High Street, Burton Latimer

Stalls selling fruit and vegetables, local farm meat, free range eggs and speciality cheeses. The Friends of St Mary’s Church will have a stall selling tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cakes – together with books and CDs. If you have unwanted books or CDs in saleable condition, you can donate them at the market.

Coffee morning

9.30am – 12 noon, The Guiding Centre, Alexandra Street, Burton Latimer

The Guides will be holding their monthly coffee morning today – this time, hosted by the Isham Division. Bacon rolls, cakes, and hot drinks will be served. All proceeds to the upkeep of the building.

Remembering the Electra Palace Cinema – talk

The Heritage Society has arranged a talk by Tom Watts about the Electric Palace Cinema, whose archway still stands in the High Street, and which was a feature of life in Burton Latimer for over 80 years.
