Pride & Prejudice - open air performance at Burton Latimer Hall5pm (gates open) for 6.30pm (performance starts), Burton Latimer Hall, Kettering Road, Burton LatimerIn aid of The Friends of St Mary's Church, theatre group Illyria is staging its highly-acclaimed production of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice in the grounds of Burton Latimer Hall. You will need to bring low-backed chairs or rugs and a picnic - and be prepared for all weathers, as the performance takes place in the open air: it doesn't stop for rain! Leave your umbrellas at home, though, as they could block people's view of the action - so bring a waterproof hat instead. The performance lasts about 2¾ hours (including a 20 minute interval), and refreshments will be available. Tickets - which cost £12.50 for adults, or £6 for under those under 16 - can be obtained by 'phoning 01536 725096 or online at www.Illyria.co.uk. There is also a discounted family ticket (2 + 2) available at £30. » Download flyer » Find out more about Illyria - or book tickets online |

The 2010 Burton Latimer Garage SaleAll day, at a garage near you, Burton LatimerLast year's sale - the first of its kind in Burton Latimer - was such a success that another one has been organised for this year. The Burton Latimer Committee of the Children’s Society has arranged the sale to take place around the streets of the town, and hopes that you would like to be part of it. Stalls can be set up outside your house with things you always meant to take to a car boot sale but never have, or things you have made yourself, such as cakes, cards, jams etc. Tables / stalls can be set up at a cost of £5 in advance, or £10 on the day, with this money going to the Children’s Society funds. The event will be advertised across the county, and a town map will be printed to include your stall. The items you sell can make a profit for yourself or for your favourite charity. Booking forms are available from the Library, Burton Cleaners, or 7 Churchill Way - or by phoning Janet on 01536 398967. All booking forms to be returned by Saturday, August 14th. |
