Local walks / Wind farm wander
Directions
The walk starts from the free public car park in Church St, in front of the Olde Victoria pub.On leaving the car park, turn left along Church Street. After a few yards, pass the Jacobean house on your left, followed by (on your right) the Manor House and St Mary's church.
As Church St bends sharply right to become Cranford Road, turn right along Wold Road (No.1). Continue along this narrow lane as it goes over the A6 bypass and past cottages on the left until you reach the wind farm (No.2).
At this point, the simplest return route is to retrace your steps along Wold Road. Alternatively, take the cinder track just before the gate to Wold Farm, and after 200 yards your route is crossed by another path. Turn left at this point (No.3) and follow the footpath across three fields back to the A6 (No.4).
Cross the A6 carefully, and pick up the footpath again on the far side. The path then crosses another field to emerge at the end of Woodcock Street (No.5), which leads back into to Church St, and to your starting point at the Old Victoria.
