Burton Latimer coat of armsCommittees
Sports & Leisure Group

This group was set up to look into the idea of having a sports and leisure centre in Burton Latimer. The group is currently chaired by town councillor Maureen Jerram, and its members represent a wide range of people and views from the local community.

Gathering local views

As a first step, the group decided to carry out a feasibility study to find out if there is a need for a Sports and Leisure Centre in Burton Latimer, and whether it would be financially viable. From the results of this we will be able to do a business plan, so that we can attract funding and avoid any 'pitfalls' which would not be economically sound and lead to failure.

A large survey was sent out in April to all residents of Burton Latimer and surrounding villages and towns. There was an enormous response from this survey and the report is nearing completion. Early indications are that a Sports and Leisure Centre may well be viable for Burton Latimer. The survey has also identified that there is a shortfall in outdoor facilities such as football pitches etc.

If you are interested in joining this group please contact Councillor Maureen Jerram. This is a very large project and any help would be very welcome.
